Brazil has settled the conflict to pharmacists

Authorities of Brazil not begin to break the patent for a medicine against AIDS after the American pharmaceutical company has agreed to lower cost of the medicine within the nearest six years.

The Brazilian government and company Abbott Laboratories send to the agreement later 10 days of the intense negotiations.

In the past Brazil declared, that will begin release of cheaper version of a preparation "Kaletra", that put strong pressure upon pharmacists so that those have reduced of the price.

On conditions of the agreement, Brazil will get access to the "know-how" of a medicine and will save 250 million dollars the nearest six years.

Now Brazil annually pays companies Abbott Laboratories 107 million dollars for distribution "Kaletra".

In the application of the pharmaceutical company it is spoken, that cost "Kaletra" in Brazil - the lowest in the world outside Africa. Representatives Abbott Laboratories approved, that if the government of Brazil will break the patent legislation the pharmaceutical companies worldwide cannot invest greater means in development of new preparations.

In the past of authority of Brazil already concluded more favourable to the country contracts with other companies after threatened to ignore patents for manufacture of medicines against acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

"Kaletra" is one of the most widespread antiviral the preparations necessary for treatment of a HIV.

For dispute between Brazil and Abbott Laboratories will end with what, steadfastly watched in developing countries where live about 36 million carriers of a human immunodeficiency virus.

By estimations of Ministry of Health of Brazil, in the country with the 183-million population of 600 thousand have a HIV or are sick of AIDS.
